Celebrating Pen Pals of 50 Years! (Germany) 7/15/25

This July, ILLUME wrote over 30 heartfelt cards filled with stories of friendship and compassion for two extraordinary lifelong pen pals, Peri and Jergen, in Germany. These pen pals have shared a friendship through letters for 50 years and have never met face to face, yet remained deeply connected across continents. Our cards traveled all the way to Germany, where Peri and Jergen will finally meet in person for the very first time. We imagined them sitting side by side in a cozy café, opening our letters together, reading stories of friendship, hope, and connection. Through this event, ILLUME celebrated the power of kindness and the meaningful impact that simple acts of caring can have on people’s lives, near or far.
